An Introduction...
Yep, that's me. The geek in the picture! My name's Woody. I'm a recent graduate in Creative Music and Sound Technology at Leeds Metropolitan University, and I am looking for work experience in sound design and audio post-production.
After growing up in Australia I moved to Leeds, UK. It was in Leeds that I began to develop an interest in sound technology. Through the exposure to many forms of electronic music, I began to immerse myself in the wonderful and creative world of sound technology.
I completed my course in June 2007, with first class honours, and I am now looking to gain experience in audio post-production for moving image and develop a comprehensive showreel. So if you have a small production that requires sound, drop me a line.
Sound Technology
Audio Post-Production
A substantial degree-based project required me to entirely recreate the audio post-production for The Animatrix: Kid’s Story. This allowed me to develop extensive skills in many areas including recording, designing, synthesising and mixing sounds for moving image. This work can be viewed on my online portfolio, which includes a more detailed analysis of the creative processes involved.
Audio Editing and Processing
I have an excellent knowledge of the physics of sound and I am experienced in the use of audio editing packages, being able to manipulate audio to a high standard. I am able to use and combine a wide variety of audio effects and processing techniques in a both a constructive and creative way. I am currently developing my skills with the Pro Tools suite.
Sound Synthesis
I am familiar with many methods of sound synthesis, including various analogue techniques and granular synthesis. I am able to use these methods in a practical and creative way. I have explored these techniques through the modular synthesis package Native Instruments Reaktor 5 and can create custom-built tools for sound design tasks.
Web Design
XHTML, CSS and Javascript
I am comfortable with the main web languages and am able to write clean, semantic, standards-compliant code. See some of my web design projects in the work section.
Design and Photoshop
I am adept with the use of Photoshop, and use this program to design a website prior to coding phase of the site. This ensures that the designs can easily be approved and modified.
PHP and MySQL
